The Salem-Keizer Public Schools (SKPS) Board of Education has unanimously approved placing a general obligation bond measure on the May 15, 2018, ballot. The bond measure is not yet finalized and currently stands at a base proposal of about $620 million.
With many schools at or over-capacity and projections showing continued growth, two-thirds of bond dollars would be directed toward alleviating overcrowding. The bond also would address critical facility improvements, expand Career-Technical/Vocational Education programs, make safety and seismic improvements across the district and more.
The school district will hold six Bond Measure Listening and Learning Forums to engage with the community about the bond. Parents, staff and community members are invited to attend the meeting at the high school that serves their neighborhood. Meetings will be held at each of the district’s six comprehensive high schools.
All meetings will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
